i don't know what to talk about!!!!!

since nothing monumental has been happening, i guess i will write the small things that have been happening...

  • beckham will be getting tubes soon....poor thing. he's only 6 months! i'm sorry for the bad genetics that i passed onto him!
  • i swear my body is falling apart from playing soccer once a week. i play on monday nights, and i don't feel better until monday morning. both my hips ache and both my knees ache, and i end up with random bruises all over my body, but i love it too much to quit.
  • berkeley is loving school. we do "homework" every day and she is grasping on so well.
  • berkeley now knows all the sounds to the letters as well as identifying all of the numbers and letters. my little smart cookie.
  • beckham can now sit up and it has made him so much happier.
  • todd's in school....every day....every night....every weekend....nothing new with that.
  • i have been getting together with friends a lot again and i absolutely love it. it makes me happy.
  • berkeley is in dance and gymnastics. maybe a little hard core.... not a big deal.
  • berkeley turns 3 on friday. its about time. i feel like she has been 2 forever. i'm sick of saying shes 2 when people always think shes like 4.
  • i have started renting the mad men series and i love it. it entertains me at night when todd is gone.
  • i watched my brother sean's kids last week...all 6 of them. it was really fun. besides the constant cleaning from the two 2 year olds, it was a blast hanging out with the older kids. the best was being the 25 and older adult for my 15 year old niece to drive with her permit. it wasn't bad until she almost ran over a dog and freaked out.

that's it.....simple, yet great.

is it over already?

i feel like the luckiest girl alive.
my amazing mom took us to newport for one last hoorah of the summer.
it was just us 3 and my mom in a little house fairly close to the water. i was so unbelievably spoiled the entire time. my mom would wake up with the kids at 6:30 every morning and take them on a walk and let me sleep in until 9 EVERY day...it was bliss.
then she would watch beckham in the afternoons at the house while me and berkeley would enjoy the beach baby-less and have an extra great time.
she took us to ice cream.
bought our dinners.
and gave us all of her love and attention.
i guess i just loved it so much because i had my mom all to myself. it was fun to not have to share her with 6 other siblings and 20 grand kids for once.
as for the beach time....berkeley was so unbelievably funny. for most of the days it was just me and her. she would get lonely and start looking for friends on the beach. so she found lots of "friends"
i mean strangers... to play with and build sandcastles with.
she loved to go in the water and jump over the waves, and declare if they were a baby one or a daddy one.
we had such a great time and i miss the beach so much already.
thank you to my mother who i am so grateful to.

today berkeley started her first day of school. i am so excited for her because im pretty sure going to school is her calling in life. she is such a learner and will enjoy every second of it.
she had a great first day.

inner turmoil

either im a bad mom, really selfish, or i am taking full advantage of the best thing ever....
i get to leave the 110 degree heat and go to the 80 degree heavenly newport beach tomorrow for another week of pure bliss....
im a bad mom because berkeley will miss her first day of school ever because i want to go to the beach...we are also missing her preschool orientation... selfish...
and then there is beckham who still has an ear infection in one ear and swimmers ear in the other....bad mom. i know.
but....its a beach house for a week...just me, my kiddos, and my mom.
that's my justification.
i don't feel so bad anymore.

our [stay]cation

6 years. that number makes me feel so old! although marriage is a great thing, its not perfect. i am very happy in my marriage but i am also glad that we have challenges. i am glad that i still get excited when todd comes home every day, and i am glad that we still cant agree on where we will go to dinner. i am glad that he is a good dad, and i am glad that he thinks having a baby is the hardest thing on earth. i am glad i have a partner to play tennis with, compete with, hang out with, parent with, go on dates with, eat with, watch my tv shows with, fight with, and that loves me back. i love you hub.

to celebrate these insane 6 years we went to the W hotel in scottsdale for 24 hours. todds sister brooke watched the kids for us which in itself is a great anniversary gift! we went to the mall and had dinner and shopped a little, then came back and hung out at the pool for a while. then we slept in, again.....the best ever!..... and went back to the pool for a few more hours of relaxing. may i just say that this hotel is fabulous! I absolutely love the decor and vibe that it has. i was so mad i forgot my camera because i wanted to take pictures of every single decor detail. it was a great stay-cation and i think we need to do it every year.

the cool lounge that i was in love with
poolside at the end of the day....thats why i look so fabulous

my gimpy

poor berkeley fell out of her bed saturday night. she woke up hurting so badly she couldn't walk! i didn't realize she couldn't walk until we were almost ready for church....and if i wake up and get ready for church, i am GOING to church! so we had to carry her to and from the car and to and from the seats. after church i took her to urgent care to see if it was broken. 2 1/2 hours later....ugghh..... we found out nothing severe was wrong, so they gave us a mini ace bandage and sent us home. that day she was so depressed and not herself. either i would carry her from one place to another, or she would crawl. it was really sad to see. you could see her spirits getting down, poor thing! by mid day on monday she started taking baby steps, and by tuesday morning she was walking, but with a limp. today she is still limping, so she just needs to tough it out a little more. poor thing...who knew falling out of a bed would be so dangerous!

{grin}

i am so excited to finally {5 months later} have beckham a happy baby. he hasn't been the worst baby in the world, but definitely not the easiest baby. he would only sleep for about 3o minutes for his naps since day one, and i seriously was SO frustrated. so finally this week he is FINALLY taking 3 2-3 hour long naps. honestly it is the best thing ever. i already have found myself thinking about my next baby...then i think how much i hate being pregnant and i quickly drop that idea. beckham is so much more happy and so am i. {grin}

ahhhh.....newport {sigh}

20 adults, and 29 kids sums up our family newport trip this year. as much fun as we had, it was sure exhausting. i feel like going on vacation all of the sudden makes me more tired than it does relax me. i guess welcome to life with 2 kids!

newport was amazing again this year. i think my favorite part was the weather. it was beautiful. every day the sun was out all day, there was always a perfect breeze, and the ocean water was surprisingly tolerable. i have always loved newport my whole life but i feel like this year i fell in love with it all over again. seeing dolphins every day does add to the appeal. i could have stayed out on that beach for 2 more weeks, from 10am to 6pm every day....and so could berkeley.

i kind of feel bad because as i went through my pictures, i did not take ONE picture of beckham. is that a bad mom or what?!? the days he was out on the beach with us he was...tolerable....not easy, not totally hard....but tolerable. i was lucky to have him stay at the house 2 whole days while my sister watched him one day and my cousin watched him another, and it was really nice to just relax and not have to worry about a fussy baby all day. berkeley was a gem. she is the most easy going, happy, mild mannered kid i know. she is basically content to do anything. she would play in the sand for hours, go out in the water with us and dive under waves, swim in the ocean where she couldn't touch, and jump over the little waves with her cousins.

as far as the other aspects of the trip....i have never stayed inside the house as much as i did this year....2 kids and all...and i absolutely LOVED running along the boardwalk with my sister looking at all the amazing houses. i loved seeing berkeley bond with her cousins and remember all of their names, and always ask for them when they weren't with her. i loved seeing her wake up carley every morning because she was so excited just to play. we played nertz a few of the nights, which i don't know why, but we become insanely out of our minds when we play. we laugh until we cry, and we constantly say the dumbest funniest things ever. i love that!

what a great tradition that my family has....i truly love it every year!

our favorite ice cream shop....we always ride bikes and walk to the ice cream shop and my mom buys ice cream for everyone. the owners remember us every year. they are really sweet people.

until next year....

2009.07.04

i think 4th of july is my second favorite holiday. {christmas of course is my 1st} i think i have loved it all of my life. i am a total summer person, and it is such a family oriented holiday with warm and fuzzy memories. we were in carlsbad again this year carrying on the farnsworth family tradition and stayed for a week. the weather was beautiful and perfect, and our resort was even more perfect. so many times while we were there i kept thinking it felt like we were in hawaii. on the 4th we started the day with swimming all day. then we met up with family friends for a bbq outside in the large grass area, and played a little sports while we were out there. then we went back to the pool area for games, smores, and then fireworks. we put beckham to bed and kept our phones as monitors so we could thoroughly enjoy the evening, and may i say, it was a good decision to put him to bed! berkeley loved the whole day. the kids got glow sticks and she thought that it was perhaps the most clever thing ever. when the fireworks came she absolutely loved those as well. she had to make sure and sit with different people during the show so she could enjoy it with everyone. like always it was such a fun 4th.....that's why its my favorite.
